Java Rockin'land

Java Rockin'landis a 3-day rock festival held each year in the lakeside of Carnaval Beach, Ancol Dreamland, Jakarta. It has become the biggest rock festival in Southeast Asia. The festival fosters cross-cultural cooperation to allow wider opportunity especially for the younger generation to enjoy world-quality entertainment. In addition, it aims to enhance the country's image and demonstrate to the world that Indonesia is a safe place to visit, promote music and tourism industry, and provide Jakarta with an event that strengthens its identity as a metropolitan city. The news of the festival’s lineup each year is always one of the most-anticipated musical events on the calendar. With 10 different stages showcasing a variety of musical styles, there is a wealth of bands and musicians, both local and foreign, for fans to watch every year. Previous festivals have included former alternative-rock titans the Smashing Pumpkins, Australian garage rockers Wolfmother and The Vines, as well as successful British act Stereophonics, among many others.

Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival

The three day festival is one of the largest jazz festivals in the world and arguably the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere, held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The annual jazz festival is held in the first week of March and is designed to be one of the largest jazz festivals globally. More than 1,000 musicians of over 100 groups participated at the extensively publicized event in 2006 and 2005, drawing more than 50,000 local and overseas visitors. While jazz is the festival's main theme, artists performing on the 15 stages across the venue present various music styles to cater to the different taste of the large audience, creating an overall "jazzy" ambience. Jazz is the unifying factor to the cross-genre acts presented, including R&B, pop, rock, latin, hip hop, rap, reggae, ethnic, gospel, electro, etc. Aside from having world icons and established names, the festival is a showcase of capable, high potential musicians from different countries and diverse cultures who are not yet well known globally. Emerging artists can take advantage of this festival to demonstrate their talents, gain experience and recognition, develop network and business relationship. Major artists like Bob James, Lee Ritenour, Chick Corea, Ramsey Lewis, the Rippingtons, Brecker Brothers, George Duke, to mention only a few, have performed.

Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival 2012

Jakarta Fair is a fair held annually in Jakarta International Expo (JIE) Kemayoran, Jakarta, Indonesia, in June and July. It features exhibitions, trade promotions, shopping, music performances, various shows, amusement rides and a food festival. The fair is meant to celebrate the anniversary of Jakarta. The Jakarta Fair sees exhibitors from across the country display a whole range of goods and products ranging from specialty food items to traditional handmade arts and crafts. In addition to the many exhibitors, there is also live entertainment including music, dance and cultural performances.

Bali Kite Festival
July

The Bali Kite Festival is an annual international kite festival held in July in Padang Galak area, Sanur Beach, Bali. A gamelan orchestra plays music throughout the festival. The festival attracts many tourists and international kitefliers, along with many local spectators. Traditional giant kites are made and flown competitively by teams from the villages of Denpasar. The event is a seasonal religious festival intended to send a message to the Hindu Gods to create abundant crops and harvests. Bebean (fish-shaped), Janggan (bird-shaped) and Pecukan (leaf-shaped) are three traditional kites flown during this kite festival. The Bebean is the largest kite, and looks like a broad-mouthed, split-tailed fish. Each type of traditional kite has its own competition, with heats of 10 teams vying for the best launch and longest flight.

The BaliSpirit Festival has evolved into South East Asia's most popular Yoga, dance, and world music festival. The annual event now takes part over five days and four nights and involves a series of daytime workshops and master classes and nighttime concerts held at two venues. In 2011, the Festival attracted an international audience of roughly 6,000 guests, with over 100 presenters from 47 countries. Set in the spectacular grounds of the Purnati Center for the Arts in Batuan, just 10 minutes south of Ubud, the daytime workshops and Dharma Fair enjoy a venue unmatched for its tropical beauty and gentle energy. The global music concerts take place in Ubud, at the Agung Rai Museum of Art’s outdoor stage, to allow easy access for visitors and locals. This unique series of concerts features and knits together the distinctive traditional rhythms of Africa, Indonesia and Australia with the contemporary music of the rest of the world. The BaliSpirit Festival is indeed a celebration of the richness of culture, the sanctity of the environment and harmony between people of all nations.
